Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works at NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News a year later. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named the Chief White House reporter in 1992 and the head of the Foreign Affairs department at NBC News. Mitchell was on the panel of the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates involving George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell has a husband, Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, budget tax reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. She also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
